About the Artist

Photographer Gabriella Martinez

Gabriella Martinez is a photographer in Kent, CT who earned her BFA in photography from the Hartford Art School in May 2020. She enjoys photographing nature and landscapes. Growing up in a family of artists has influenced and inspired her to pursue art as a career. Her interest in photography started when she was quite young, and she is often found with camera in hand in the rural landscape that surrounds her home. She was awarded the Rachel Carson Award for her work with The Audubon Society on the Important Bird Area grant application for the Kent Land Trust. The current project she is working on is called Aqua Immortalis Series which is a fabricated portrayal of synthetic jellyfish. Her decision to make jellyfish from plastic is to bring awareness to the issue of the fragility of our natural world, and man’s adverse effects on it.
